CHN 101 & FCC 210 scheduled for Spring 2020!
LCUH is pleased to offer the following courses for Spring 2020:
FCC 210 CRN 21460: Chinese Culture through Cinema - (3 credit hours, General Education 3) Learn about Chinese culture! Cinema is a window into the oldest Asian culture, a vivid and authentic view of traditional and modern China. We will study films from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan and by diasporic Chinese film-makers from diverse critical perspectives and in historical contexts. This is a course taught in English. No knowledge of the Chinese language is required. All the Chinese films we watch in class have English subtitles. This course counts as an elective in the Asian Studies minor and certificate.
CHN 101 CRN 24261: Conversational Chinese I - (3 credit hours, General Education 6) Acquire the key to a new world! Conversational Chinese 1 is an introduction to the grammar and structure of Chinese taught in cultural context. Practice in pronunciation, reading, and writing systems with an emphasis on conversation. This courseis for students with little or no experience with Chinese. Not open to native speakers of Chinese. It satisfies the requirements of Gen Ed 06. This course counts as an elective in the Asian Studies minor and certificate.
