EKU BA_SPA Senior Kendra Isaacs accepted to Masters program at Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla in Puebla, Mexico
Congratulations to EKU BA_SPA Senior Kendra Isaacs who has been pre-accepted to the Maestría de Literatura Hispanoamericana (Master in Hispano-American Literature) in the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) in Puebla, Mexico, an institution ranked one of the Best Global Universities for 2018 by U.S. News and World Report. Kendra graduates from EKU and CLASS this May with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and a minor in Communication Studies. She plans to begin her graduate studies in August with a focus on the culture and the literature of Hispano-America from the 19th century through the present.
"It is nothing short of amazing how my experience at EKU in the Spanish program has prepared me for this next big step in my life. Just a few short years ago, I stepped on campus as a scared, first-generation student with big dreams of learning to speak Spanish fluently but with no idea of where that was going to lead me. Within my first semester, I quickly discovered that my "querido español" would be more than just an extra skill set--it would define my career path. Thanks to my professors who have so freely shared their knowledge with me, as well as to two study abroad experiences in Latin America, I have now not only become confidently bilingual but have also developed cultural awareness and strong analytical and critical thinking skills. All of these will be indispensable in my graduate studies investigating culture and literature in a Mexican university. While I already had capability and determination before, my time at EKU has truly been the refining force that has released my potential and has given me the confidence to excel in any environment."
Congratulations Kendra!
