"What Will You Be, Kentucky?" Campaign

Kentucky World Languages Association logo

The Kentucky Department of Education has a new campaign: What Will You Be, Kentucky? asking citizens to submit stories about their career paths.  Long-lasting graduation requirements will likely be instituted based on this public input, making it imperative for us to state the case for language as an important career-based skill.

Do you currently have a career in which knowing two or more languages plays an important role?  Do you have know employers that have a need for bilingual or multilingual workers?

Please share yours and encourage individuals to tell their story and email it to whatwillyoubeky@education.ky.gov.

The KDE campaign is open to the public with the goal of helping students find their future careers.  This is an excellent opportunity to help raise awareness of the importance of multilingualism in preparing our students for the workplace both locally and globally.

Thanks,

The KWLA Advocacy committee
