Bio

Dr. Sara is a Ph.D. in Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures-Spanish with a second concentration in Latin American Studies and an Assistant Professor of Spanish at Eastern Kentucky University. She completed her M.A. in Spanish at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, Illinois, and her PhD at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her areas of research interests include Central American fiction, Latin American literature and film, intersections between race and gender, biopolitics and the connections between literature, migration, and border/ diaspora studies. She has published some of her creative work, such as short stories and poems in anthologies, the most recent with Alfaguara, titled "Desde el Centro de América". She has also presented academic articles at conferences in Honduras and the United States.
